Sitecore Architect

Lead the technical vision on enterprise Sitecore platforms that actually ship.

Remote — Quebec or Canada Permanent or contract Senior / Principal
Apply
Fully remote — Canada-based
Permanent or contract
Enterprise stack — Sitecore + Coveo + Azure

What you'll do

  • Design composable architectures across Sitecore XM Cloud, Coveo, and Azure for clients in financial services, higher education, and the public sector. Real platforms — not slideware.
  • Lead modernization architecture for enterprises moving from on-prem Sitecore XP / XM to XM Cloud, Sitecore AI, or composable alternatives. xDB exits, custom-module unwinding, content serialization, URL preservation — the hard parts.
  • Decide the search-and-personalization stack: Coveo for Sitecore, Sitecore Search, or hybrid. Defend the call with data — we're one of the few partners who can compare both honestly.
  • Run architecture review boards. Mentor mid-level developers. Set the technical bar on engagements you've scoped. You're the person who looks at a PR and says "this will hurt us in 18 months" — and explains why.
  • Sit across the table from VPs of Digital and Enterprise Architects. Defend or challenge a Sitecore proposal on its technical merits. Vendor-neutrality is contractual at Sengo — no reseller layer on top.
  • Speak, write, contribute to the Sitecore community. Sponsored time for SUGCON talks, blog posts, OSS contributions, and the application work behind a Sitecore MVP nomination.

Things you might be wondering

Do I need to be in Quebec, or is anywhere in Canada fine?

Anywhere in Canada works for the day-to-day. Quebec is preferred for the simpler tax and contracting setup, and because most of our enterprise clients are Quebec-based. Outside Canada we can't currently structure a permanent contract, but contractors with their own corporation are open to discuss.

Can this role be contract-to-perm?

Yes — we're flexible. Some architects start as contractors for a 3 to 6 month engagement and convert to permanent once we're both confident it's a fit. Others come in directly as permanent. Tell us what you'd prefer; we'll structure around it.

What does a typical week look like?

Roughly 60% deep architecture work (design, reviews, deep-dive on engagements), 25% client-facing time (advisory calls, workshops, pre-sales), and 15% internal (mentoring, hiring, contributing to our methodology). No mandatory standups, no theater meetings — meetings happen when they create value, not on a schedule.

How much client-facing work is there?

Significant. As a senior architect you're expected to be in front of clients — technical discovery, architecture workshops, executive presentations, and pre-sales conversations. If you prefer pure heads-down architecture with no client exposure, this isn't the right fit. If you like sitting across from a VP of Digital and defending an architecture, you'll thrive here.

What Sitecore versions are your clients on?

A spread. Some are on Sitecore XM Cloud and shipping headless with Content SDK. Some are on Sitecore XP / XM 10.x and weighing the migration to Sitecore AI or composable. A few legacy installations are on 9.x and need modernization. You'll see all of it — and you'll lead the architecture decisions on which path is right for which client.

Will I be supported toward Sitecore MVP?

Yes — this is one of the things we do best. Two of our team are 2x Sitecore Technology MVPs. We sponsor SUGCON travel and prep, set aside time for blog posts and OSS contributions, and help structure your application. If you want the credential, we'll get you there.
